Station 20 was part of a 120 strong fire fighting contingent that was sent to Kangaroo Island in South Australia to help combat several large scale bush fires threatening areas of the island. 3 fire fighters and 1 staff member attended for a total of 5 days which involved everything from IMT (Incident Management Team) work, mopping up, patrolling, fire fighting and back burning. These members were flown out of Sydney and into Adelaide airport where they were bussed to the South Australian Police Academy for the night. From there they were transported by bus to the coast line to take a ferry to Kangaroo Island. From there, yet another bus ride to take them to the base camp setup on the island, some 24 hours later!
