Open day 2011 was a great day with over 100 people coming through the Brigade. We had fire extinguisher dispays, the kids could talk on the radio to communications and we even threw in a real live fire call(lights and sirens). Fun was had by all.

Open Day at Illawong Rural Fire Brigade was another great success with many local residents visiting. There were activities for the kids such as colouring in and playing with fire hoses. Illawong Brigade was called upon to assist NSW Police and SES in a search and Rescue operation. An Estonian backpacker, Ms Pijot Kuck had reported missing after several days camping on Eleura Beach, Cronulla. Firefighters invited friends and family to enjoy a fun day in the sun at Illawong rural fire station. A day dedicated to families and friends to explain to them the ins and outs of what we do and why. The kids had a ball!
